Minors Division softball does not have a maximum numbers of players per LL rules but the desired number is 12 per team due to playing time and maximum effectiveness of learning the game.
Ages for this division will be league age 9, 10 and 11 year olds. League age 8 year olds can potentially be considered with VP and Player Agent approval to rule out any safety issues.
The league draft shall be coordinated by the VP of Softball prior to the commencement of practice. The Softball Player Agent will have final approval of team rosters. Head coaches and Assistant Coaches are encouraged to participate in the selection process. An assessment of players ability will be conducted at NCLL preseason clinics prior to the start of the season or at another time set by the league and VP of Softball.
Guiding principles of the league draft include:
● Rosters divided according to softball age and developmental level
● Pairing girls in the same school and grade band is a goal but not a guarantee
● Multiple softball developmental levels on the same team may not be able to be avoided base on the uneven registration levels in the league
● Girls may be placed on a team in another local District 8 Little League if NCLL does not have enough girls to field a team.
