An individual development program (IDP) is a program designed to assist players in their all-round soccer development. It’s primary purpose is to help players reach their short and long-term developmental goals as well as improve current performance. Players taking part in the IDP should not see this as a single performance evaluation tool or a one-time activity. We see this as a partnership between the players and the staff that will involve preparation, training and feedback during the membership period.
The IDP will focus on the player specific aspects in:
- Tactical – How a player reads and understands the game
- Technical – How a player performs the fundamental techniques within passing, dribbling, control and shooting
- Physical – How a player matches up to the physical demands of soccer (speed, power, strength, agility)
- Psycho-social – How a player adapts & develops mentally & emotionally during training and games
Player Specific Training:
- Players are evaluated in one game & training session at start of month
- Players meet to discuss IDP for the month
- Players receive focused plan for the month – where they should focus their development in training, games and individually (away from the team setting)
- Players receive 2 x training sessions (individual/small group)
- Players are evaluated in a game or training session at the end of the month
- Players receive focused plan for the following month
