The Lakeland Nordic Ski Team is a youth sports club serving the greater Lakeland area. LNST supports skate & classic skiing for youth in Grades 3-12.
LNST supports three levels or teams:
GRADES 3-4, Development Team - Elementary School (ES) LNST coaches teach how to ski through fun and games. On Monday & Thursday evenings, ES skiers meet December through February from 4:00-5:30 at Minocqua Winter Park (MWP). From games in front of the chalet to getting comfortable on the trails, your kids will have fun and stay active all winter long!
GRADES 5-8, Development Team - Middle School (MS) LNST coaches work with MS skiers who are beginners to those that want to race competitively. MS meets December through February from 4:00-5:30 on Monday & Thursday evenings at MWP and, optionally, on Tuesday evenings at local trails . The MS race schedule has lots of options to explore racing across the region from Rhinelander, Hayward, and Wausau over January and February. LNST provides support for your child as they learn the in’s & out's of racing.
GRADES 9-12, High School (HS) LNST coaches lead both a girls and boys nordic race teams affiliated with Lakeland Union High School (LUHS). The HS skiers have opportunity to earn varsity letters and compete in the regional Wisconsin Nordic Ski League for individual and team championships. We have a strong HS program, winning numerous State Championships over the years. Practice schedule and race season are similar to other varsity sports. Practices start in November. Races are typically weekends January-February. Transportation is provided for HS skiers from LUHS to practices/races at this level.
