what are parent confessions?

We all have those days that we look back on and say, "Why did I do that?".  Little League has captured several articles based upon the confession of a parent.  These are short reads that will help us learn from those that have gone before us.   There are many available on the Little League website, but here are a few that may resonate with you.

I started my son in the Little League® Tee Ball program when he was four. I had worked with him quite a lot prior to that. I know that may sound weird working with a kid at such a young age, but his older brother played baseball, so he was always around. The sport came natural to him, and he loved it. While I wasn’t thrilled he’d be hitting off a tee because he could already hit a pitched ball, I figured we had to start somewhere, and Tee Ball was all that was available.

The coach was great! While I can’t say my son progressed all that much during the Tee Ball season, other kids definitely did, and he had a ton of fun. I shouted down my daughter's softball chants

I am a baseball guy. I’m still involved in recreation leagues. As a kid, I played Little League Baseball. My wife played Little League Softball. Our daughter is a good ball player and could have easily played baseball. I pushed her to do so, but she decided on softball. My wife was pleased. I was disappointed.

That disappointment quickly grew at my daughter’s first softball game of the season, and it had nothing to do with the play on the field or the coaching.   Read more....
