Development:
For 8U teams, coaches focus on building a solid foundation of fundamental skills while keeping the game enjoyable and safe. Players learn the basics of blocking, tackling, running with the ball, and catching, with a strong emphasis on proper form to prevent injuries. They are introduced to simple and intermediate plays while begining to understand different positions on the field. Coaches teach the importance of teamwork, listening, and following directions, helping young athletes develop both individually and as part of a team. The goal at this level is to foster a love for the game while gradually introducing more structure and rules, setting the stage for more advanced learning in future years.
Differences with Game:
No kick-offs, ball starts on the 35 yard line
Punts are allowed on 4th down, but defenders are not allowed to rush. Ball is live once it is touched by receiving team.
