Ages of Play:
5 - 6 Years Old
** Must be older than 5 and younger than 7 by 1 Aug of the respective year of play.**
Development:
For 6U teams, they are introduced to the basic fundamentals of the game in a fun and structured environment. They learn essential skills such as proper stance, how to run with the ball, and basic blocking and tackling techniques, all while prioritizing safety. Coaches emphasize teamwork, sportsmanship, and following directions. These young players are also introduced to basic football terminology, simple plays, and how to understand positions on the field. The focus at this level is on skill development, building confidence, and fostering a love for the game rather than competition.
Differences with Game:
Not kick-offs, ball starts on the 35 yard line
No Punts on 4th down, ball is placed on the opposing teams 35 yard line.
No Fumbles in the back field, ball is whistled dead.
Ball is live on fumbles after the line of scrimmage.
No overtime, except for playoff/championship games.
