Mandatory Skills Assessment All Registered Upper Division (AAA, Coast, & Majors) Players 8*-12 years of age

On Sunday, January 26, 2020 we will host our annual skills assessments for ALL Baseball and Softball League Age Players 8*, 9, 10, 11, 12.  

*If League Age 8 player, you must have requested "play-up" in your registration submission and attend a League Age 9-assessment period for AAA evaluation.


Purpose and Goal of Skills Assessment

Falls Little League approved Managers facilitate the skills assessment to evaluate and score the skill set of all players. All players will be rated on throwing and catching, ground balls, pop-ups, pitching and hitting. The data is aggregated and utilized during the Draft process for AAA, Coast, and Majors teams to ensure parity across all teams, all divisions. This is not a try-out. All registered players will be selected to a team.

    

 

 

How To Be Prepared

  • Save the date on your calendar – assessment attendance is mandatory for all players
  • Review the Assessment Time Grid to determine your assigned slot based on Player League Age and Last Name
  • Players only attend (1) session
  • Unable to make assigned time slot? Prior communication by Monday, 1/20/20 is REQUIRED to Program Specific Player-Agents to request and receive confirmation of formal alternative assignment time.

  • All League Age 8 Play-Up Requests, if absolutely unable to attend will not be draft eligible for AAA
  • All League Age 9, 10, 11 and 12 players, if absolutely unable to attend, all players will be drafted and assigned to a team based on Falls LL oversight and data awareness from prior season/coaches.If your player is sick or injured in the days leading up the assessment - notification to the Program Specific Player-Agent is required. 

Check-In Process

  • Check-In begins 30-minutes prior to each assessment session inside the CKSM Multi-Purpose Room
  • Turn in Medical Release Form - required for all participants
  • To save time, please complete the linked Medical Release Form - print at home and bring with you. 
  • Confirm school attendance

What Do Players Need to Bring

  • Their mitt, USA stamped bat, and batting helmet.  Bat and helmet are not required, we will have a small selection for those that don't have their own
  • Player should wear clothing which allows for athletic movement
  • NO CLEATS - Tennis/sport court shoes only - assessments are held on a gymnasium floor 

Parent and Player Day of Timeline

  • Following your check-in, players/families are welcomed to relax inside or outside the Auxiliary Gym at CKMS. 
  • ZERO throwing, swinging bats in outside area prior to assessment entry due to liability concerns.
  • 5-minutes prior to each groups assessment, a Falls LL representative will gather all players for gym entrance. This is where parents will remind their players to relax and have fun. 
  • Players will enter and be instructed where to store their gear
  • Zero parent entrance into assessment is allowed - only approved Managers are permitted inside assessments
  • Following player entry - all parents are asked to join League President, Mike Tenhulzen in the CKMS check-in area for a 10-minute League update and Q&A session
