AAA Softball Overview

Little League Ages 9-10* as defined by 2024 Little League Softball Age Chart.

Division AAA Softball is the first level of our Upper Division softball program. Players will expand on the fundamentals learned in AA while increasing consistency with throwing, catching, and batting. This is the first year of 100% player-pitch. Games are played against Falls LL teams, Snoqualmie Valley LL teams, and Valley LL teams. Games may also be played against teams from Eastlake LL, Sammamish LL, Issaquah LL, and Redmond LL. The season ends with the Valley Tournament.

TEAMS

  • All players being considered for AAA Division (Little League Ages 8-10) must attend the Skills Assessment.
  • Players are drafted into AAA based on Skills Assessment results. AAA teams are generally formed in proximity to neighborhood elementary schools.
  • Any Little League Age 10 player not drafted onto a Coast team is guaranteed placement on a AAA team.

SEASON SCHEDULE

The AAA Softball season begins the last week of February. Games start the fourth week of March. There are no practices or games during SVSD Spring Break. Coaches may schedule additional practices during game weeks, based on field availability. The season concludes prior to the completion of the SVSD school year (mid-June).

Weeks 8-15 1-2 games per week


*A Little League Age 8 player may be eligible to be drafted onto a AAA team if they request to play-up when registering, played AA the previous year, attend the Skills Assessment, and score in the top 50% of 9-year-olds at the Skills Assessment. Being eligible does not guarantee being drafted. If not drafted, the player will be allocated to the AA Softball program.


COAST SOFTBALL OVERVIEW

Little League Ages 10-11* as defined by 2024 Little League Softball Age Chart.

Division Coast Softball is the second level of our Upper Division Softball program. Players should have past success at the AAA level and be ready to start hitting pitching of different speeds. At this level of play, there is greater emphasis on understanding and executing on defense. At the plate, putting the ball in play is even more challenging due to the continued improved pitching skills. Games are played against Falls LL teams, Snoqualmie Valley LL teams, and Valley LL teams. Games may also be played against teams from Eastlake LL, Sammamish LL, Issaquah LL, and Redmond LL. The season ends with the Valley Tournament.


TEAMS

  • All players being considered for Coast Division (Little League Ages 10-11 ) must attend the Skills Assessment.
  • Players are drafted into Coast based on a combination of Skills Assessment results and Little League age.  The Falls LL Selection Committee oversees the Draft process in order to validate roster balancing.
  • Any Little League Age 11 player not drafted onto a Majors team is guaranteed placement on a Coast team.
  • Any Little League Age 10 player not drafted onto a Coast team is guaranteed placement on a AAA team.

MAJORS SOFTBALL OVERVIEW

Little League Ages 11-12* As defined by 2024 Little League Softball Age Chart

Majors Softball is the third tier of our Upper Division Softball program. Players will be challenged by facing a variety of pitches and defensive awareness will continue to develop. Games are played against Falls LL teams, Snoqualmie Valley LL teams, and Valley LL teams. Games may also be played against teams from Eastlake LL, Sammamish LL, Issaquah LL, and Redmond LL. 

TEAMS

  • All players being considered for Majors Division (Little League Ages 10-12) must attend the Skills Assessment.
  • Players are drafted into Majors based on a combination of Skills Assessment results and Little League Age. The Falls LL Selection Committee oversees the Draft process in order to validate roster balancing.
  • All Little League Age 12 players will play on a Majors team.
  • Any Little League Age 11 player not drafted onto a Majors team is guaranteed placement on a Coast team.

Juniors Softball Overview

Little League Ages 12-14, as defined by 2024 Little League Softball Age Chart

The Juniors Softball program is a fully competitive program that is designed to bridge the gap between Majors softball and High School softball. Given the often low participation numbers for this program, Little League Age 12 players playing Majors have the option to dual roster. High school players who are Little League Age 14 are eligible to play. Games are played against other District 9 teams (e.g., Issaquah, Bellevue, Kirkland, Sammamish, Redmond, Mercer Island). 

TEAMS

  • There are no tryouts or skills assessment for this program.
  •  Falls Little League players may be combined with players from neighboring Little Leagues to form teams.

SEASON SCHEDULE

  • The season runs from March until June.
  • Commitment is typically 2-3 days per week.
