Upper Division AAA Softball Overview

AGE RANGE:  Players Little League Ages 8*, or 9, or 10**, as defined by 2023 Little League Softball Age Chart.

*League Age 8 players must request play-up request in registration process and participate in Skills Assessment.  To be draft eligible for AAA, Player must score in the top 50% of 9 year olds.  Being eligible does not guarantee being drafted, if not drafted player is allocated to the Division AA Program. 
**League Age 10 players, based on Skills Assessment evaluation could be slotted into the AAA Program to ensure the player is involved in an environment that is properly suited for his/her skill set at this point it time.  We want to see kids in a position where they have the highest probability of success to grow, have fun and keep playing.

AAA Softball is the first level of our Upper Division softball programs. Players will expand on the skills taught at AA. This is the first year of “100% kid-pitch”. Players should be able to throw from third-base to first-base in the air and agile enough to avoid being hit by a pitch. They should be able to properly catch a ball. Regular season includes Interlock games versus Snoqualmie Valley LL (SVLL) teams, Snoqualmie Valley North LL (SVN), Eastlake, Sammamish, Issaquah or Redmond.  The AAA season concludes with a Snoqualmie Valley Inter-League Championship tournament.  To learn more about the full league rules and regulations – read here.

TEAMS

  • Teams are formed by a “Blind Serpentine Draft” by the Falls LL Selection Committee. Draft order will be based on provisional draft round, composite score, and then pitching score from data collected the Upper Division Skill Assessment
  • Rosters will include 12-13 players


AAA IN-SEASON TARGETS

  • Managers are required to utilize the regular season for broad player development and position versatility.
  • There will be an effort for a Softball Tournament between other D9 leagues and is structured for teams to strive to win which could be have player position limitations while adhering to our minimum playing time requirements

SCHEDULE OVERVIEW 

The Division AAA program in segmented into three parts:  Practice season – Feb 28 through March 23, Regular game season – March 25 up to Memorial Weekend.  If there is enough interest between D9 leagues there could be a mini tournament format to conclude the season.

Games are typically scheduled Monday’s and Wednesday’s with occasional Friday’s or Saturday’s.  Game schedule is impacted by total number of available fields, total number of player registrations and Division teams.

UPPER DIVISION COAST SOFTBALL OVERVIEW

AGE RANGE:  Players Little League Ages 9*, or 10, or 11 as defined by 2023 Little League Softball Age Chart.

*League Age 9 players must request play-up request in registration process and participate in Skills Assessment.  To be draft eligible for Coast, player must score in the top 50% of 10 year olds and completed AAA the prior year.  Being eligible does not guarantee being drafted.  If not drafted player is allocated to the AAA Program. 


Coast Softball is the next step in Upper Division softball programs. Players will expand on the skills taught at AAA.  Players should have past success at the "AAA" level and should be ready to start hitting pitching of different speeds.  At this level of play, there is greater emphasis on understanding and executing on the defensive end of the game and valuation of all defensive field positions.  At the plate, putting the ball in play is even more challenging due to the continued improved pitching skills.  

Regular season includes Interlock games versus Snoqualmie Valley LL (SVLL) teams, Snoqualmie Valley North LL (SVN), Eastlake, Sammamish, Issaquah or Redmond.  The Coast season concludes with a Snoqualmie Valley Inter-League Championship tournament.  To learn more about the full league rules and regulations – read here.

  • Any League Age 11 Players not drafted into Majors are guaranteed placement on a Coast Division team  
  • Rosters will include 12-13 players


COAST IN-SEASON TARGETS

  • Managers are required to utilize the regular season for broad player development and position versatility.  It should be noted and understood, that as players skills are developed certain defensive positions could be limited to player placement due to safety concerns
  • End of the season, the Snoqualmie Valley Championship, is structured for teams to strive to win which could be have player position limitations while adhering to our minimum playing time requirements

Majors is our third tier in our Upper Division Softball.  All Little League eligible 12-year-olds will play in Majors.  Players must be ready to hit a variety of pitching.  Defensive awareness includes where to make the play and players will be challenged as how to run the bases.  Regular season includes Interlock games versus Snoqualmie Valley LL (SVLL) teams, Snoqualmie Valley North LL (SVN), Eastlake, Sammamish, Issaquah or Redmond.

Upper Division Juniors Softball Overview

AGE RANGE:  Players Little League Ages 12* - 14 as defined by 2023 Little League Softball Age Chart.

OVERVIEW

  • Juniors Softball is fully competitive program and designed to be a bridge gap for players following Majors Softball and High School softball.  
  • Given the often low participation numbers in this age range, League Age 12s playing Majors will have option for dual roster
  • High school players who are League Age 14 are elgible to play
  • Based on registration numbers there are times where the team could be "combined" with players from Snoqualmie Valley Little League
  • Games are played within other District 9 leagues and has the opportunity to participate in Juniors All Star tournament at the end of the regular season.
