Softball Divisions

Rookie Girls Softball is for ages 6, 7 yr olds
For League Age 6, 7 yr olds - Rookie Girls Softball is for league ages 6/7/8.  This division normally has teams with 12 players per team.  Team Managers are expected to run practice once a week and play two games per week.  Games are scheduled on Saturday mornings and once during the week.  Rookie Girls Softball division is a “coach-pitch” program. At this level, players begin to hit a pitched ball.  Coaches are on the field during games to encourage/instruct players.  Players are taught game basics.  There are no umpires, final scores, or standings for this division.  The playing field is a skin infield 60 ft. Players are given a full uniform by the league.  Team Helmets, Bats, and Softballs are also supplied to each team manager by the league.  The only equipment parents have to buy for their child is a glove that is properly sized for the players hand and cleats. This is not required to play but we would recommend players wear a face mask and heart guard shirt. 

Minor Girls Softball is for 8, 9 and 10 year old girls.  
For League age 8, 9 and 10 yr olds - 
Teams practice once per week and are scheduled two games a week.  (One on Saturday and one during the week) This is the first division where softball players pitch from 35ft.  Cadet Umpires are used in this division.  Fundamental skills are stressed and game strategies are also taught.   The playing field is a skin infield 60 ft diamond.  Players are given a full uniform by the league.  Team Helmets, Bats, and Softballs are also supplied to each team manager by the league.  The only equipment parents have to buy for their child is a glove that is properly sized for the players hand and cleats. This is not required to play but we would recommend players wear a face mask and heart guard shirt. 

After the regular season, the league will select players from this division to represent Bayshore Little League in the 9/10 District 19 All Star tournament. (if there is enough interest)

Major Girls Softball is for 11 and 12 year old girls.
For League age 11 and 12 yr olds - Teams practice once per week and are scheduled two games a week.  (One on Friday and one during the week) This is the division where softball players pitch from 40ft.  Umpires are used in this division.  Fundamental skills are stressed and game strategies are also taught.  Field is a skin infield 60 ft diamond.  Players are given a full uniform by the league.  Team Helmets, Bats, and Softballs are also supplied to each team manager by the league.  The only equipment parents have to buy for their child is a glove that is properly sized for the players hand and cleats. This is not required to play but we would recommend players wear a face mask and heart guard shirt. 

After the regular season, the league will select players from this division to represent Bayshore Little League in the Majors 11/12 District 19 All Star tournament. (if there is enough interest)

The Senior Softball Division is for 13/14/15 and 16 yr old girls. 
Teams practice once per week and are scheduled for two games a week. The players in this league will continue to master the basic fundamentals of softball in a competitive environment while further developing each player’s skill set. Placement on teams in this division is by a draft after player evaluations. Players pitch from 46 ft and play on a skin infield 60ft.  Players are given a full uniform by the league.  Team Helmets, Bats, and Softballs are also supplied to each team manager by the league.  The only equipment parents have to buy for their child is a glove that is properly sized for the players hand and cleats. This is not required to play but we would recommend players wear a face mask and heart guard shirt. 

After the regular season, the League will select players from this division to represent Bayshore Little League in the Senior Softball District 19 All Star Tournament. (if there is enough interest)
