Annual skills assessments for ALL Baseball and Softball League Age Players 8*, 9, 10, 11, 12.
*League Age 8, you must have requested "play-up" in your registration submission and attend a 9-10 assessment period for AAA evaluation.
If you are unsure and have a League Age 8 player(s) and either want or do not want to be considered for play-up consideration, please submit a question to [email protected] by no later than 2/4/22 3:00pm.
Purpose and Goal of Skills Assessment
- Falls Little League approved Board Members and Managers facilitate the skills assessment to evaluate and score the skill set of all players. All players will be rated on throwing and catching, ground balls, pop-ups, pitching and hitting.
- The data is aggregated and utilized during the Draft process for AAA, Coast, and Majors teams to ensure parity across all teams, all divisions.
- This is not a try-out. All registered players will be selected to a team.
When and Where
- When: Sunday, February 6, 2022
- Where: Mount Si High School Baseball Turf Field, 8651 Meadowbrook Way SE, Snoqualmie, WA
- Specific times, based on Players League Age are listed below.
Steps to be prepared
- Save the date on your calendar – assessment attendance is mandatory for all players.
- Review Skills Assessment Time Chart to determine you assigned slots based on Players League Age.
- Players only attend (1) session.
- Parents are instructed to drop-off and are not permitted to observe.
- All League Age 8 play-up requests, if absolutely unable to attend will not be draft eligible for AAA.
- Encourage your player to give his/her best effort, give maximum effort no-matter of current abilities, pay attention and listen to the coaches.
- Prior to assessments start working on catching, throwing and swinging the bat.
Medical release forms
- Per Little League International rules, we must receive a Medical Release Form each and every year.
- Didn't upload an electronic Medical Release form on Step 1 during your Player Registration?
- Access the Medical Release Form, print and bring for check-in.
Check-in process
- Bring your mask, mask will be required at check-in. Based on current WA State Youth Sports guidance, while the players are active they may opt to not wear a mask.
- Check-In begins 30-minutes prior to each assessment session
- Following your check-in, players/families are welcomed to relax inside or outside the Auxiliary Gym at CKMS.
- ZERO throwing, swinging bats in the staging area prior to assessment entry due to liability concerns.
- 5-minutes prior to each groups assessment, a Falls LL representative will gather all players for assessment entrance. This is where parents will remind their players to relax and have fun. Players will enter and be instructed where to store their gear
- Zero parent entrance into assessment is allowed - only approved Managers are permitted inside assessments
What do players need to bring
- Medical release form.
- If outdoors, please have your player(s) wear baseball/softball pants and sweatshirts - cleats are allowed (no metal).
- Their mitt, USA stamped bat (Baseball only), and batting helmet. If you don't have a bat or helmet, don't worry. The league will have those available for player use.
- If your player has catcher's gear and has desires to play the catcher position, please bring your equipment.
Unable to attend your assigned time slot on 2/6?
- The League needs to be informed.
- Please submit Skills Assessment Change Form by February 3, 8:00pm
- If your player is sick or injured in the days leading up to the assessments – notification is required.
