The Ledyard Youth Basketball League runs from October through March. This season, we will again offer travel teams for both boys and girls for grades 3rd through 8th in the Connecticut Basketball Conference (CTBBC). For the boys CTBBC teams, only interested players will tryout for these travel teams. The CTBBC games will be played throughout the state with the majority of games played locally. Middle School-aged children are able to play in this league AND participate in the LMS basketball teams. The games will NOT conflict.

 

Girl players in grades 3 through 8 will be evaluated and placed on teams based on their abilties based on the initial evaluation. . They will be selected for the more elite CTBBC girls travel teams or for the girls only Southeastern CT Regional Girls Basketball League. The Southeastern CT Regional League typically plays games in Ledyard, New London, Groton, and occasionally other local towns.

 

The LYBL Mixed Division includes players in grades 1 through 8 separated into age groups for Bitty (Grades 1-2), Instructional (Grades 3-4), Juniors (Grades 5-6), and Seniors (Grades 7-8).  All games are played either at Ledyard Middle School or Gales Ferry School.

 

The cost of registration for the LYBL is $65 for Bitty and $95 for all other ages.

 

Uniforms MUST be purchased during Registration if needed. You will have the option to select the appropriate age division for your child WITH (W/) UNIFORM or without one. If you have a uniform from a previous season that is in good condition, it may be worn. The cost of the jersey and shorts is $30 total. The uniforms will be purchased by the league and delivered to coaches. Please be sure to include sizes for both jersey and shorts while registering. Bitty Basketball players receive a T-shirt as part of registration and do NOT need to purchase this uniform. For Bitty players, please list a T-shirt size during Registration. These same uniforms will be worn in both the CTBBC and Southeastern CT Girls Leagues - no additional gear will be required.

 

The LYBL will conduct fundraisers during the season. These will include team and player pictures and fan merchandise. Stay tuned for these during the season.

 

All required Connecticut Department of Public Health and Ledyard Public Schools COVID-19 protocols will be followed for all league activities. These protocols will be distributed to parents before practices begin as necessary.

 

We need volunteers, including Coaches, an Equipment Manager, a Treasurer, a Fundraising Coordinator, a Scheduler, and a Uniform Coordinator. Announcements for tryouts and evaluations will be sent over email to all registered players and will be posted on our website and on Facebook. We are planning these tryouts to begin in mid-October with all CTBBC travel teams finalized before October 24th. LYBL Mixed Division Evaluations will take place AFTER the boys travel teams and all girls teams are set.
