MOUNT SI HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL and SOFTBALL FIELDS
SUNDAY, JANUARY 26
- Baseball: 8am check-in, assessments begin promptly at 8:45am to noon
- Softball: 8am check-in, assessments begin promptly at 8:45am to 11:30am
The annual skills assessments are for ALL Baseball and Softball League Age Players 8*, 9, 10, 11, 12.
*League Age 8, you must have requested "play-up" in your registration submission and attend a 9-10 assessment period for AAA evaluation.
If you have a League Age 8 player who would like to be considered to play-up in AAA, but you did not request to play-up when registering, please email [email protected] by January 18, 5:00pm.
Purpose and Goal of Skills Assessment
Falls Little League approved Board Members and Managers facilitate the skills assessment to evaluate and score the skill set of all players. All players will be rated on throwing and catching, ground balls, pop-ups, pitching and hitting.
The data is aggregated and utilized during the Draft process for AAA, Coast, and Majors teams to ensure parity across all teams, all divisions. This is not a try-out. All registered players will be selected to a team.
When: Sunday, January 26, 2025
Baseball: 8am to noon
Softball: 8am to 11:30am
Where: Mount Si High School Baseball and Softball Complex
Save the date on your calendar – assessment attendance is mandatory for all players in the upper divisions (AAA, Coast, Majors) and requesting to play up into AAA.
Parents are welcome to stay and watch during assessments, but should not communicate with any player once they are on the field or in the cages. Please leave the instruction that day to the Skills Assessors.
- Parents who wish to drop and leave should plan to return between 11:30-11:45 for baseball pickup, and 11:15-11:30 for softball.
All League Age 8 play-up requests, if absolutely unable to attend will not be draft eligible for AAA.
Encourage your player to give his/her best effort, give maximum effort no-matter of current abilities, pay attention and listen to the coaches.
Prior to assessments start working on catching, throwing and swinging the bat.
Per Little League International rules, we must receive a Medical Release Form each and every year. If you did not complete / upload it during the registration process, please print, complete, and bring it for Assessment Day check-in.
Arrive early to allow ample time to check-in.
Check-in begins at 8am and assessments will begin promptly at 8:45, please do not be late.
There are plenty of viewing opportunities around the field at MSHS; Parents observing the assessment should refrain from communicating with their children during the assessment ensuring athletes follow instructions by coaches on the field.
To ensure safety of all players and staff, DO NOT throw or swing bats in the staging area prior to assessment entry due to liability concerns.
5-minutes prior to assessments beginning, a Falls Little League representative will gather all players for assessment entrance. This is where parents will remind their players to relax and have fun. Players will enter and be instructed where to store their gear.
Parents are not permitted to instruct their child during the assessment nor are they permitted on the fields - - only approved Managers are permitted inside assessment areas.
What players need to bring
Completed Medical release form if not already provided during registration.
Pease have your player(s) dress for the weather. Wear baseball/softball pants and sweatshirts - cleats, turf shoes or tennis shoes are allowed (no metal).
Their mitt, USA stamped bat (Baseball only), and batting helmet. Baseball only: Please note if a player arrives with a USSSA or BBCOR stamped bat those are not eligible in Little League and players will need to return to their bag.
If you don't have a bat or helmet, don't worry. The League will have those available for player use.
If your player has catcher's gear and has desires to play the catcher position, please bring your equipment.
