BASEBALL, SOFTBALL, and CHALLENGER - see below


BASEBALL



Please note for Spring 2024 we have an updated path for players. If you are not sure which division is right for your child please read our note to the league Important Update 2024.  You can always reach out to us or a previous coach for advice. 

Quick-Ball
Ages 4-5, co-ed.  Introductory/instructional. No glove or bat required, 5 innings or 60 min, whichever comes first, no score kept.  Teams formed by school and coach/friend/sibling requests. Emphasis on fast paced fun stations led by coaches and parents followed by "Game like simulation".  Teams consist of 6-8 players meeting twice per week. Main Objective: Introduce player to baseball concepts build confidence while maximizing fun and creating a joy for play. 

Coach Pitch 
Ages 6.  Coach pitch.  Non-competitive/instructional:  5 innings, scores and standings not kept.  No previous playing experience necessary. Player required to have a glove. Teams formed by school and coach/friend/sibling requests. Teams consist of 9-10 players meeting 2-3 times per week. Emphasis on catch play and hitting, building confidence with a high volume of repetitions and squishy softer baseball.  Create fun events that players look forward to coming back to. 

Single A  Machine Pitch (A) 
 
Ages 7-8.  Primarily machine pitch, with pace of play being the primary objective.  Non-competitive/instructional:  5 innings, scores and standings not kept.  No previous playing experience necessary. Teams formed by school, coach/friend/sibling requests and competitive balance based on age.  Teams consist of 10-12 players meeting 2-3 times per week. Emphasis on hitting and lots of action in the field. Players are introduced to multiple positions including catcher.  Predicable pitch location allows hitters to focus on tracking the ball while building an aggressive hitting approach.

Double  A  (AA) 
Ages 8-9.  Non-competitive/instructional:  5 innings, scores and standings not kept.  Recommended that players have one year of Single A experience.  Teams formed by school, coach/friend/sibling requests and competitive balance based on age.  Teams consist of 10-12 players meeting 2-3 times per week. Emphasis on introduction to pitching from a modified distance. Hitters build on decision making skills while continuing to have an aggressive mindset. Players begin to develop situational awareness in the field and on the bases.   
 
Triple A  (AAA)
 League Age 9-11.  Competitive:  6 innings, umpires, scores kept, standings recorded.  Teams formed by a draft. 12 year olds may play AAA, at a parent's request, with board approval.  Typical reason would be skill level/safety risk at Major's level.  12 year olds cannot pitch in AAA.  Teams consist of 11-12 meeting 2-3 times per week. Players are eligible for age 9/10 and 10/11 All-Star teams, based on their league age.  Participation in tryouts and 60% of the league scheduled games are a requirement for All-Star eligibility. Emphasis on developing Pitchers and Catchers for the next level and hitters that have an aggressive power based approach at the plate. 

Majors
  League Age 10-12.  Competitive:  6 innings, umpires, scores kept, standings recorded.  Teams formed by a draft.  9 year olds, with an advanced skill level, may play if drafted.  Teams consist of 11-12 players meeting 3-4 times per week. Players are eligible for age 9/10, 10/11 and 11/12 All-Star teams, based on their league age.  Participation in tryouts and 60% of the league scheduled games are a requirement for All-Star eligibility.  Emphasis on increasing players understanding of positional responsibilities,  situations both on offense and defense.  Develop a power mindset for both throwing and hitting that will help players as they advance and play on larger fields. 

Intermediate  (50/70)
  League Age 13.  Competitive:  7 innings, umpires, scores kept, standings recorded.  Field size increases to 50' pitching distance and 70' base paths. Stealing and pick-offs allowed.  This division is a good transition between a little league sized field (46' pitch, 60' base) and a full size field (60' pitch, 90' base).  11 and 12 year olds may play, but are encouraged to stay in the Majors division.  Players are eligible for 50/70 All-Stars.  Participation in tryouts and 60% of the league scheduled games are a requirement for All-Star eligibility. 


SOFTBALL 


Tball 

League age 4-6.  Introductory/instructional.  3 innings, no score kept.  7 and 8 year olds may play, at a parent's request, with board approval.  Teams formed by school and coach/friend/sibling requests.

PeeWee
League age 7-8.   Coach pitch the 1st half of the season, kid pitch the 2nd half.  Non-competitive/instructional:  5 innings, scores and standings not kept.  Recommended that players have one year of TBall experience.  6 year olds with one one year of TBall experience may play up to Pee Wee.  Teams formed by school and coach/friend/sibling requests

Minors
League age 8-10.  Competitive:  6 innings, umpires, scores kept, standings recorded.  Teams formed by a draft.  7 year olds, with an advanced skill level, may play if drafted.  11 and 12 year olds may play Minors, at a parent's request, with board approval.  Typical reason would be skill level/safety risk at Major's level.  12 year olds cannot pitch in AAA.  Players are eligible for age 8-10 and 9-11 All-Star teams, based on their league age.  Participation in tryouts and 60% of the league scheduled games are a requirement for All-Star eligibility.

Majors
League age 10-12.  Competitive:  6 innings, umpires, scores kept, standings recorded.  Teams formed by a draft.  9 year olds, with an advanced skill level, may play if drafted.  Players are eligible for age 8-10, 9-11 and 10-12 All-Star teams, based on their league age.  Participation in tryouts and 60% of the league scheduled games are a requirement for All-Star eligibility.  


Juniors
League age 13-14.  Competitive:  6 innings, umpires, scores kept, standings recorded.  Teams formed by a draft.  12 year olds may play up if they are an advanced skill level, approved by the board and drafted to a team.  Players are eligible for the Juniors All-Star team.  Participation in tryouts and 60% of the league scheduled games are a requirement for All-Star eligibility. 


CHALLENGER 

League age 4-18, or up to age 22 if still enrolled in high school.  Birth certificate required, no boundary requirement.  Games begin after spring break and end Memorial Day weekend. They are played on Saturdays, weather permitting.  One practice per week.  Family involvement and participation is encouraged.

The Challenger Division was established in 1989 as a separate division of Little League, to enable boys and girls with physical and mental limitations , to enjoy the game of baseball.  Today more than 30,000 children participate in more than 900 Challenger Divisions worldwide.  Shane Fox has organized Camas Little League's Challenger team for the past 9 years.  Contact [email protected] with further questions.
