The 2024 season brings a few changes to Camas Little League and we wanted to share some details with our community.  First, let’s start with why we’re making changes.  Softball/Baseball is a great game with lot’s of life lessons, but let’s be honest, it is difficult to balance fun, excitement and learning the game at young levels.  In order to keep providing the best possible experience to our families, CLL is constantly evaluating our program.  We have identified a couple of opportunities to improve player experience and development.   Keeping more kids playing our game longer is fundamentally the goal and we think these modifications will help grow the game.

So, now onto the “what”.  For 2024, the changes impact our youngest players (4-8):

Starting with the little ones (ages 4 and 5), we will continue to offer a modified version of the game.  In 2023, we piloted a program from Quick Ball and will offer it again in 2024.  Many of us parents remember T-Ball and look forward to our own kids playing the game.  But we’ve found the T-ball can be slow and very few fielders are involved.  The Quick Ball format provides a structured game that gets more kids involved.  It does have fewer equipment needs (no glove and league provides the bat). 



You'll notice this Division is the only option for both boys and girls at this age.  During registration you'll find it under the Baseball league.  For more information Divisions Offered 2024.  

On the Baseball side, starting at the age of 6, we are creating a division specific for kids moving up from Quick Ball.  This division will be called “Coach Pitch” and have a coach pitch format and will allow kids to play against players of similar experience. 
For Softball players, age 6 will move into our PeeWee Division.

For Baseball, after "Coach Pitch" we have 7 year-olds moving into a "Machine pitch" division, just as before.  And for 8 year-olds newer to the game, we recommend sticking with "Machine Pitch".
For Softball players, age 7 will remain in our PeeWee Division.

For Baseball, more experienced 8-year-olds and newer 9 years olds, we are changing "AA Division" to introduce kid pitch.  It will be a modified version of coach pitch to help maintain game flow.  This is the most significant of our changes and the goal is to provide players an earlier opportunity to pitch from shorter distance.
For Softball players, age 8 will remain in our PeeWee Division and 9 will move into Minors.
