Weather Cancellation
- In some instances, the town will decide to close a field, you can check on the town website here. (It is not always posted by 12:00pm)
- Sometimes they will notify the field coordinator directly.
- Head coaches are responsible for notifying the visiting head coach of the cancellation.
Field Cancellation Reminders - Fields are closed if:
- Standing water is evident
- Footing is unsure/slippery
- Ground is waterlogged
- Grass is easily pulled out
- There is lightning or severe weather
If you are unsure, check the field yourself a few hours before the game.
Cancellation
Weather Related: at least 2 hours before the scheduled start time of any game (e.g. 4pm for a 6pm game).
Other than Weather Related: at least 24 hours in advance of games that need to be canceled or rescheduled.
Step 1: If you are the home team, reach out to Paul and to the opposing team (see coach contacts link below) to notify them that you need to cancel your game.
Step 2: Reach out to the umpire coordinator to cancel the umpire.
Step 3: Formulate a plan to make up the game (see NCSL Rules, "The Game" section for guidance on rescheduling). Take into account that you need an available field (Check with our fields coordinator), an umpire, and two teams!
Quick Dry Instructions:
- Quick dry is available in the Deerfield and Senior Center sheds.
- Do NOT put any quick dry on the grass!
- When removing water from the infield, do not push dirt/water into the grass.
