Minor Player Pitch Baseball

Minors Player Pitch Baseball
League Ages 9-10
League Age 8 may play pending skills evaluation and 3 years of baseball experience.

This is considered the first year of competitive interleague baseball. It is a transitional level to Major Division. Players further develop their baseball skills and sportsmanship in a safe and fun environment.

• TEAMS: Baseball teams are made up of 12-14 players. Teams are created after registrations have closed and will require a skills assessment.
• TRYOUT PROCESS: All player are required to attend both assessment nights to be drafted on a team. Certain exceptions apply and will need to be addressed by the Player Agent prior to tryouts. All players attending will be placed on a team. See Tryouts for more details.
• EQUIPMENT AND UNIFORM: Team uniform of hat, jersey, and pants are provided by SLL. Each team is issued catcher's gear, bats and helmets. Players may use their Little League approved USA Baseball bat or any legal baseball gear they choose. Glove and cleats are required for all players.
• PRACTICES: Starting as soon as the snow thaws, end of April beginning of May. Coaches’ preference on how often to practice. Teams will usually have 2 practices per week until the season begins, then 2 game and 1 practice each week. Practices and games typically last 2 hours total with pre-game warm ups. Practices can be included during game nights.
• FIELDS: Home Fields 4 and 5 at SLL Park. They will also travel to Kenai Little League Park.
• GAMES: 2 games each week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and/or Fridays). Games are 6 innings in length, or 1 hour and 45 minutes, with three outs per inning. Minor teams play approximately 12 games per season. They will participate in an end of the season tournament.
• RULES: The diamond has 60-foot base paths and a 46 foot pitching distance. All players get a chance to bat and run bases. 3 outs per inning with a 5 run max per inning and score is kept the whole season. Innings are limited to 3 outs or 5 runs scored, whichever comes first, and a maximum of 6 innings. Players will learn to pitch at the beginning of the season. Players are allowed to steal bases and after June 1st they may steal home. In this division, players will be called out at the bases and can strikeout while batting. Scores are kept to track of runs per inning.
• ALL STARS: Players must play a minimum of 8 games during the regular season. Coaches must coach the division they wish to coach All Stars. They may not coach up.
• VOLUNTEERS: Parent participation is necessary on many levels from Coaching, Umpiring, Field Preparation, Score Keeping, Team Parent, etc. If there is not a volunteer umpire available, we ask that a parent in the stands steps in to allow the game to proceed.
• MANAGER and COACH: Two coaches and one manager may request to be paired together prior to team formation. While attempts are made to honor requests, they are not guaranteed.

"Only those participants whose residence or the physical location of the school where they attend classes is within the boundaries of the league shall be eligible to participate."

Note: You will only be able to register your player/s for the program they are age-eligible for. If you have any questions, please reach out to the Player Agent. SLL reserves the right to move players from one level to another for safety reasons as well as to accommodate the most players depending on interest at each level. This is done at the Coach and Player Agents discretion.
