Minor Machine Pitch Softball
League Ages 7-8
Continues the skill building that starts in T-Ball. Players will continue to develop individual hitting, throwing and catching mechanics in a safe and fun environment. In addition, they’ll start to learn more rules of the game, with more focus on base running and team fielding techniques.
TEAMS: Softball teams are made up of 12-14 players. Teams are created after registrations have closed and will require a skills assessment.
• EQUIPMENT AND UNIFORM: Team uniform of visor/hat, jersey, and pants are provided by SLL. Each team is issued catcher's gear, bats and helmets. Players may use their own Little League approved softball glove and if they chose a Little League approved softball bat. Glove and cleats are required for all players. Personal fielding mask is highly recommended for infield play.
• PRACTICES: Starting as soon as the snow thaws, end of April beginning of May. Coaches preference on how often to practice. Can be included during game nights. Teams will usually have 2 practices per week until the season begins, then 2 games and possibly 1 practice each week. Practices typically last 60-90 minutes.
• GAMES: 3 games each week (Tuesday, Thursday, and/or Saturday). Games are 6 innings in length, or 2 1/4 hours, with three outs per inning. Minors teams play approximately 10 games per season.
• RULES: The diamond has 60-foot base paths and a 35 foot pitching distance. All players get a chance to bat and run bases. 3 outs per inning with a 5 run max per inning and score is kept the whole season.
• VOLUNTEERS: Parent participation is necessary on many levels from Coaching, Umpiring, Field Preparation, Score Keeping, Team Parent, etc.
• MANAGER and COACH: Two coaches and one manager may request to be paired together prior to team formation. While attempts are made to honor requests, they are not guaranteed.
"Only those participants whose residence or the physical location of the school where they attend classes is within the boundaries of the league shall be eligible to participate."
Note: You will only be able to register your player/s for the program they are age-eligible for. If you have any questions, please reach out to the Player Agent. SLL reserves the right to move players from one level to another for safety reasons as well as to accommodate the most players depending on interest at each level. This is done at the Coach and Player Agents discretion.
