Little League® programs are always looking for responsible and enthusiastic individuals to support and coordinate local Little League events and activities. Volunteers should have a keen interest in the safety, well-being, and overall development of children.

Why Should I Become a Volunteer?

Little League Baseball and Softball is an organization designed to build good citizens. It is a program of leadership, preparing today’s youth to be tomorrow’s leaders. At the local level, Little League relies on a devoted legion of adult volunteers to help ensure that the organization remains structured and runs smoothly. Your local Little League program is always looking for responsible and enthusiastic individuals to support and coordinate Little League events and activities. As a volunteer, you should have a keen interest in the safety, well-being, and overall development of children. By reading further, you will discover that the benefits of volunteering are endless. What You Need to Know About the Little League® Volunteer Application Process

Sign Up to Volunteer:
On our website, sign into your account (top right) and then select Volunteer (far left)
Select what roles you’d like to volunteer for

Nationwide Background Check:
You will go through a brief questionnaire.
Fill out the form and then you will be asked for a copy of your driver’s license.
Once you’re finished you will wait to receive an email from JD Palantine (JDP).

Required Training:
The safety and well-being of all participants in the Little League® program continues to be paramount, and it is on all of us to do our part to provide a fun, memorable, and safe experience each year. With the requirement of all volunteers to completeAbuse Awareness Course each year. Familiarize yourself with the Little League Child Protection ProgramHeads Up Concussion Training.

Youth Umpires are also required to complete an Abuse Awareness Training for Minor Course.

Volunteers Needed

Concession Stand Helpers
The Little League is responsible for the operation of the concession stand. The Concession Manager ensures smooth operation of the snack bar but will need assistance with the set up (6:00p-6:30p) and take down nightly (8:30p-9:00pm). They are also in need of counter workers during open hours (5:30p-8:30p). You are responsible for stocking, organizing, and cleaning concessions area. Assist in counter work and being a runner for items. 

Helping at Opening Ceremonies

During Opening Ceremonies we expect to see at least 800 people come through the gates. Volunteers may be needed for:
·        Ceremony Field Prep x4
·        Grill Masters x3
·        Bun Runners x4
·        Parade Line Organizers x3
·        Ceremony Field Clean-Up x4
·        Trash Removal x6
·        Concessions help
        
Oilers Camp Organizer
Our local Peninsula Oilers come out for a fun skills clinic with the League. During this event we need helpers to set-up and take down nets, tees, buckets of balls, etc. We need a few volunteers to man the front table to collect waivers from player and families.

Photo Day Helpers
Helpers will verify teams are in order and ready for pictures 15 minutes before their scheduled time. Be a runner for the photographer. Help answer questions parents may have regarding the order forms. Assist the photographer with setup and take down of equipment and field cleanup after the last team pictures. 

Volunteer Roles

Head Coach and Assistant
Each team needs a head coach and an assistant coach. Beyond the direct responsibilities of working with their team, coaches will check in with the Team Parent and parents often. If you are interested in more information, visit COACHES CORNER. To sign up please CONTACT US.

Team Parents
Parents from each team help the team manager as telephone contacts and with other duties as needed. The Contact Parent organizes the making of a team banner to carry on opening day and to hang at each game. These parents are the communication link in the League. Information concerning the games, practices, team fundraising, pictures and the like are passed through contact parents. Fields and Grounds
The condition of the playing fields should be of utmost concern to all parents. Our goal is to have fields that are safe, attractive and well kept. We need volunteers for both preseason and regular maintenance. In addition to normal field and ground maintenance work, we are looking for volunteers with specialties such as electricians, carpenters and painters. If you are interested please CONTACT US.

Umpires
Well-trained and interested umpires are as essential as the players themselves, to ensure a great season! Volunteers are needed for all games during the year for Minors Player Pitch through Seniors. If you are interested in more information, visit UMPIRE. To sign up please CONTACT US.

Volunteer Code of Conduct

Volunteer Code of Conduct:

-Remember that the children are here to HAVE FUN!
-Place the emotional and physical well-being of players at the top of your priorities.
-Lead by example with good sportsmanship, positive attitude and respect for players, coaches, umpires and parents.
-Present exemplary behavior during all SLL related activities.
-Comply with established Little League rules.
-Respect that all rulings by an umpire on the field are final.  Get back to the game, DO NOT continue to discuss the matter.
-Help maintain a clean and safe playing environment including adherence to all guidelines outlined in our current safety plans. 
-You will not use tobacco, drugs, alcohol or offensive language while involved in/around SLL activities.
