Majors Baseball

Majors Baseball
League Age 11-12
League Age 10 may play pending skills evaluation and 3 years of baseball experience.

Majors continues development of skills, pitching, and strategy. This division incorporates and encourages a higher skill level to allow more competitive level of play. All players will go through a required evaluation process and drafted onto teams. All players will be placed on a team. Younger players may be moved down a division, if Coach and Player Agent feels they are not ready for this division.

• TEAMS: Majors teams are made up of 11-14 players. Teams are created after registrations have closed.
• TRYOUT PROCESS: All player are required to attend both assessment nights to be drafted on a team. Certain exceptions apply and will need to be addressed by the Player Agent prior to tryouts. All players attending will be placed on a team. See Tryouts for more details.
• EQUIPMENT AND UNIFORM: Team uniform of hat, jersey, and pants are provided by SLL. Each team is issued catcher's gear, bats and helmets. Players may use their Little League approved USA Baseball bat or any legal baseball gear they choose. Glove and cleats are required for all players.
• PRACTICES: Starting as soon as the snow thaws, end of April beginning of May. Coaches’ preference on how often to practice. Teams will usually have 2 practices per week until the season begins, then 2 game and 1 practice each week. Practices and games typically last 2 hours total with pre-game warm ups. Practices can be included during game nights.
• FIELDS: Home Fields 1 and 2 at the SLL Park. They will also travel to Kenai Little League Park and Karen Hornaday Park in Homer.
• GAMES: 3 games each week. Travel between Kenai during the week and then some weekends in the Anchorage area. Games start at 6:30pm and double headers are on Saturdays, 11a and 1pm. Games played Tuesday, Thursday, and/or Double Headers on Saturday. Games may be up to 3 hours including warm-ups. Major teams play approximately 12 games per season. They will also participate in an end of the season tournament.
• RULES: The field uses a 60-foot diamond and a 46 foot pitching distance. Continuous batting order allows all players a chance to bat and run bases.
• ALL STARS: There is a lot to consider with All Stars. Please read more about it here.
• VOLUNTEERS: Parent participation is necessary on many levels from Coaching, Umpiring, Field Preparation, Score Keeping, Team Parent, etc. If there is not a volunteer umpire available, we ask that a parent in the stands steps in to allow the game to proceed.
• MANAGER and COACH: Two coaches and one manager may request to be paired together prior to team formation. While attempts are made to honor requests, they are not guaranteed.

"Only those participants whose residence or the physical location of the school where they attend classes is within the boundaries of the league shall be eligible to participate."

Note: You will only be able to register your player/s for the program they are age-eligible for. If you have any questions, please reach out to the Player Agent. SLL reserves the right to move players from one level to another for safety reasons as well as to accommodate the most players depending on interest at each level. This is done at the Coach and Player Agents discretion.

2023 we have added another Majors Baseball Team, from 3 teams to 4.

*In 2022 we had 3 Majors teams with over 40 players ages 10-12.
With 2 coaches per team that = at least 6 registered volunteers.
Without coaches, teams cannot be formed and therefore delays practice
leading up to the beginning of the season.
